LandrumHR presented $15,000 from inaugural 5K event

LandrumHR 5K 2023 check presentation

Pensacola, Fla. (December 7, 2023) – LandrumHR presented $15,000 to Lakeview Center during the December board meeting. The community partner raised the money from an inaugural 5K held in October. The event theme emphasized the link between physical and mental health.

“LandrumHR was inspired to create an event that features exercise as a way to improve mental health,” said Britt Landrum, III, CEO of LandrumHR.  “Considering the great work Lakeview does with mental health services, and they were the perfect fit.  We’re excited about the community’s response to our first year, and we’re already looking forward to our second annual event set for October 19, 2024.”

As the event demonstrated, a brisk walk can make us feel better. Likewise, the National Institutes of Health reports that exercise improves mental health. By reducing anxiety, depression, and negative mood we can improve self-esteem and cognitive function. These health benefits can be achieved with as little as 30 minutes of moderately intense exercise.

“The generous support LandrumHR and our event sponsors will benefit thousands of adults and children served every year by Lakeview Center,” said Allison Hill, CEO of Lakeview Center’s parent company, LifeView Group. “We see people during some of their most vulnerable moments, and funds like this help us meet our mission of ‘helping people throughout life’s journey’.”

At the end of the event, LandrumHR awarded prizes to top male and female racers and specific age groups. For instance, Richard Mayberry won first place in the male category. Additionally, Tia Guidry with Lakeview Center of Walton County won first place in the female category. Above all, the community’s participation helps a great cause.

In conclusion, Lakeview Center has served the community for almost 70 years. From Escambia to Walton County, the nonprofit agency offers more than 60 programs. Services include residential programs, outpatient counseling, psychiatry, trauma care, substance misuse treatments, and 24/7 support for serious mental illnesses. Last year, Lakeview Center made an impact on more than 24,000 adults and children.
