Professional Growth Journey: Cindy Cook

Cindy Cook started at FamiliesFirst Network– the child protective services division of LifeView Group-during Thanksgiving week of 2002. Just weeks into the job, she was helping transport children to a foster home that didn’t have a Christmas tree. Cindy didn’t hesitate.

“I went home. The next day, I took them our Christmas tree,” she said. “My son was like, ‘Mom, where’s the tree?’ I told him, ‘There were kids who didn’t have one.’ So we went and got another.”

Cindy’s instinct is to see a need and step in.

Cindy started as a secretary at FamiliesFirst Network’s Crestview service center. She quickly became known as someone willing to learn anything needed to help the work move forward.

“That’s always been my mindset,” she said. “Don’t lock yourself into a box. Always look at the bigger picture. Just because this is your box doesn’t mean you can’t watch, learn and grow.”

Over the years, Cindy took on new responsibilities across data reporting, executive support and training, often stepping in behind the scenes to strengthen systems and solve problems. Her willingness to raise her hand led to opportunities that expanded her skill set and impact.

In 2019, Cindy transitioned into her current role as an operations specialist with LifeView Group. Today, she supports facilities, coordinates office moves, manages vendor relationships and helps teams across the organization keep operations running smoothly.

“Once I start working with a team, I get to understand what they do every day,” she said. “It helps me see the bigger picture. I’m a go-to person. It might not be my job, but I’ll find the answer.”

That people-first approach extends beyond her role. Cindy is known as “Mama Cindy” to colleagues and former teammates, a reflection of the trust and care she’s built over time.

“When you’re part of this organization, you’re part of a family,” she said. “We take care of each other.”

After more than 20 years, Cindy values the opportunity to learn more about different programs through her work.

“The more things I can learn and do,” she said, “the happier I am.”To support the mission-driven work of LifeView Group and the team members who make it possible, visit LifeViewGroup.org
